California Raisins is sponsoring the America’s Best Raisin Bread Contest, where professionals, R&D staff members and students can enter their products or original formulas at loveyourraisins.com for a chance to win a five-night trip to California. The interesting part about this contest is California Raisins use of video to promote it. The video is a nice blend of still photos and supers, which is an effective way to avoid shooting footage and keep production costs down. The only mark missed was the background music—the vocals definitely competed with the voice-over. But, all in all, this video was a nicely done, low-budget way of promoting a contest. If you have the time, consider incorporating video. It doesn’t have to be expensive, and it’s always a step above a descriptive paragraph.
